Open house for Dayley Dance Academy will be held Monday

The academy, which offers ballet, modern, contemporary and jazz instruction for all ages, has signed a lease to open in Washougal Town Square, 1700 Main St. Academy Director Sarah Dayley said she will also continue to operate her studio inside the Cascade Athletic Club at Fisher’s Landing, in Vancouver.
An open house at the Washougal studio is planned for Monday, from 2 to 8 p.m. It will include demonstration classes and opportunities to pre-register. Classes are scheduled to begin Tuesday, March 1.

New restaurant cooks pizza and other dishes with a wood-fired oven.
David Garcia, owner of Hearth Wood Oven Bistro, said he is on “Cloud 11” as he prepares to open the restaurant Wednesday. Pizza toppings include Kalamata olive, vegetable, pepperoni and lamb curry. In addition to seasonal fruit desserts, HEARTH features a variety of wines from the Northwest, California and Italy. Washougal Ice Cream Parlor turns two.
Ice cream specials and a variety of games and activities will be among the highlights of the second birthday celebration at Papa’s Ice Cream, in downtown Washougal.
The festivities, set for Saturday, from 11 a.m., to 6 p.m., will feature $2 sundaes. A Wii bowling tournament for children and teens will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Face painting will be available from 1 to 4 p.m., as well as a piñata for ages 3 to 5, at 2 p.m. Guitarist Bryan Arakelian is scheduled to perform from 4 to 6 p.m.
Ivan Gering and his wife Chris, of Washougal, own Papa’s, which also sells a variety of milk shakes, fruit smoothies, sandwiches, bagels, espresso drinks and candy.
