On July 15th, 2011, Washougal Town Square welcomed the Camas-Washougal Economic Development Association to their new home in Suite 208. Led by Paul Dennis, former mayor of Camas and the principal of Cascade Planning Group, the Camas-Washougal Economic Development Association, or CWEDA, will work to expand existing businesses and bring new businesses and jobs to the east Clark County area.

Students from the Washougal School District were in a celebratory mood at Washougal Town Square last week, and who wouldn’t be? Winners from the District’s annual Arbor Day Art Contest got a handshake from the Mayor, a medal from the Superintendent of Schools, and a free ice cream cone from Papa’s Ice Cream.

Arbor Day began in 1872 in Nebraska, and each year encourages participants to plant and care for trees. This is the fourth year the Washougal School District, in partnership with the City of Washougal, has held the Arbor Day Art Contest, with a new tree-centric theme highlighted every time. This year’s theme was “Trees Give Terrific Gifts”.

On a beautiful, sunny day in the Washougal Town Square courtyard, the winning artist’s were deservedly rewarded for their work. The elementary schools involved in this year’s contest included Cape Horn-Skye, Gause, Hathaway, and Mt. Pleasant.
